The Hedgerow Heroes project, which also supports CPRE’s national hedgerow campaign, is helping to restore hedgerow up and down the country. Here’s an overview of local sites in Nottinghamshire.

Rushford Drive Park

In mid November we planted hedgerows at Rushford alongside Green Hustle and Nottinghamshire City Council Parks and Open Spaces. Local MP, Lilian Greenwood came along to do some planting, and our volunteer, Fiona Kirkbride, was on hand to show her the ropes.

Snape Wood

In mid November we planted hedgerows at Snape Wood alongside our delivery partner Green Hustle, putting in some new border hedges for wildlife and to help protect the site.

Bulwell Hall Park

In early December we were at Bulwell with Green Hustle again for a bright and frosty session!

Local CPRE groups across the country have been directly engaging with communities and volunteers to ensure their involvement with these practical conservation projects in their local green spaces. We’re proud to be contributing toward increasing our hedgerow network by 40% by 2050, as recommended by the Climate Change Committee to help achieve carbon net zero.
